I'm not sure of the year, XMAS eve, 78, 79. Perth Andover NB Canada had a multi-building fire with very strong winds. It was around midnight when they requested our help We sent the runway foamer/tanker (F-6) with SSGT Wayne Weber and AIC Scotty Campbell. Because it was assistance to another country we had one hell of a time for someone to make up their mind that it was OK to send it to a foreign country. Didn't quite go to the pentagon, I believe that the wing commander finally decided it was the right thing to do in the height of winter and XMAS eve. The town was very grateful for our assistance.
Yes they in fact did save the town or least got credit for doing so using the deck gun and the 5000 gals of water on board. I guess that the hydrants were about of water and frozen "you know the usual--if it can go wrong, it will" and did for the volunteers over there. Everyone was real impressed with "that big tractor trailer from the base" Scott Campbell was a buck Sgt or A1C a great guy from Texas, a fast learner and a real go-get-her. Wayne Webber was a SSGT and most likely the station chief at the time. Wayne would do any thing for anyone regardless of the circumstances and was always helping others. He loved working on and talking on "CB" radio's He passed away some time ago "a young man" I think that he was in North or South Carolina.
